Recap of recent accomplishments at PHS

There have been so many great things happening across the Port Huron Schools lately, that we wanted to do a recap in case you had missed some of the news:

* Destination Imagination State Competition at Central Michigan University: The following two teams placed first and qualified to compete at Global Competition on May 27 to 30 at the University of Tennessee:
       --Fort Gratiot Middle School - Scientific Challenge (Coaches Natalie Adair & Kathy Patterson)
       --Port Huron Northern High School - Scientific Challenge (Coach Becky Lubbers)
       --The PHN Senior Level also received a Renaissance Award for the story and props they created for the Making Waves Performance Challenge.
       --PHN senior Braeden Houle received a $1000 scholarship from Destination Imagination.

* Quiz Bowl State Tournament: The PHN Varsity Quiz Bowl Team traveled to Lansing to compete. They finished their season in the top ten in the state.

* SkillsUSA State Conference: St. Clair TEC students competed in Grand Rapids. Here are the results of how Port Huron Schools’ students fared:
       --1st place gold medals - These students will be competing at the National SkillsUSA Conference in June in Louisville, KY.
       --Audio Production - Gigi Padilla (PHN) and her team partner, Alana Sawicki - Audio competitors had the opportunity to interview Governor Snyder
       --Precision Machining Milling - Jacob Hisscock (PHN)
       --Precision Machine Overall - Matt Pringle (PHHS)

       --Jennifer Kata - Cleveland Elementary 2nd grade teacher earned National Board Certification
       --Breahna Snay - PHHS Senior wins $5,000 scholarship for FIRST Robotics
       --Central Middle School Wins Excellence Education award for Cougar University

Congratulations to all of our hardworking staff and students! Everyone should be extremely proud of their accomplishments!
