Award CupPHS Announces 2019 Advocator, Innovator and Educator of the Year Award Winners

For the fifth year, Superintendent Cain surprised winners of the Port Huron Schools 2019 Advocator, Innovator and Educator of the Year awards. This is the highest honor the district bestows upon its staff each year, based on its mission action statements of Advocate, Innovate, Educate. This year’s winners are:

● Advocator - Rayna Palmer, Secretary II (Attendance), Central Middle School
● Innovator - Tracee Blake, Administrator, Early Childhood Center
● Educator - Judy Fiedler, 5th Grade Teacher, Crull Elementary School

PHS-TV filmed the surprise award presentations and broadcast them live on the Port Huron Schools Facebook page. This award has been done in partnership since its inception with DoubleTree by Hilton Port Huron and Freighters Eatery & Taproom. Both provide prizes to the recipients of the annual award.

Each year, the district welcomes any person - parent, school district staff member, student or non-district associated citizen - to nominate any staff member at Port Huron Schools whom they feel is worthy of being recognized as the best example of the mission action statements. This year, over 100 nominations were received. Superintendent Cain then delivers the awards during National Teacher Appreciation Week.
