Happy Women’s History Month from Girl Up!  Malala Yousafzai became an international symbol of the fight for girls’ education after she was shot in 2012 for opposing Taliban restrictions on female education. Malala is the youngest person in history to win a Nobel Peace Prize and has become a voice for equality and education all around the world. Through her efforts, gender inequality is decreasing and has allowed for women everywhere to dig themselves out of poverty.   Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the second woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, serving as a justice for 27 years. RBG faced a lifetime of adversity before being appointed to the Supreme Court, including discrimination and sexism from her male classmates and professors during her time at Harvard Law School. While on the court, she successfully fought against gender discrimination.
