Happy Women’s History Month from Girl Up!  Susan B. Anthony was one of the prominent leaders of the women’s suffrage movement. Along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, she traveled around the country delivering speeches in favor of women’s suffrage. She was president of the National Woman's Suffrage Association. Her work helped paved the way for the 19th Amendment of the Constitution that granted the right for women to vote. Susan B. Anthony showed us that leadership takes devotion and seeking justice is difficult, but worth it in the end.   Marie Curie was a physicist who discovered radium and polonium. Marie Curie fundamentally changed our understanding of radioactivity through her discoveries, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in Physics with her husband. She also was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for Chemistry for isolating pure radium. She was the first woman in France to obtain a PhD in physics. We should remember Marie Curie’s work because she paved the way for women in the STEM field today.
