Announcements for 9/28/2022

The PHN at PHN will be selling motivational wristbands for one dollar to support the free access to period supplies in the bathrooms at Port Huron Northern and Holland Woods Middle School. The wristbands are available for purchase before or after school in Ms. Carleton’s room 702. Come buy yourself a wristband to make your day and the day of someone else better!

Northern football players will be selling Fan Gear shirts during All 3 lunches. Gold and Navy Long Sleeves for $10 and Gold and Navy Hoodies for $20.

Student council is sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday October 4.  If you are 17 or older and would like to donate blood, sign up at the homecoming ticket table at lunch.

This year at PHN, we have a new club for students who enjoy or want to learn crocheting, knitting, or cross-stitching. The next Stitchers Unite meeting will be in Mrs. Nisbett's room (311) this Monday, October 3rd after school 2:30-4:00 PM. Flyers are posted around the building or you can email Mrs. Nisbett for more information. If you are interested in crocheting, knitting, or cross-stitching, join our new club Stitchers Unite!

The PHN Chess Club will be having its first meeting of the year on Monday, October 3,  from 2:30-3:30 pm in room 312. All levels from beginning to advanced welcome.  Contact Mrs. Zyrowski with any questions.

The boys varsity tennis team came in 3rd overall in the MAC White tournament yesterday with 2 flights taking first place. 

The 1st doubles team of Tyler and Alex Jamison and the 4th doubles team of Hunter Christopher and Owen Hill  swept their opponents to take home the medal. 

The team will be in regional competition next week to try for a bid to the state tournament. 

The Northern Boys Soccer team defeated Clawson 4-3 Monday night in a comeback victory.  Dimitri Kasparian had 3 goals and Kyle Cooper had 1.  Carter Dietrich had an assist.  The team returns to action tonight at Cousino.

Congratulations to the Boys’ Cross Country team that clinched their fifth consecutive MAC White Championship last night. They finished the season with an overall record of 13-1.  Leading the way for the Huskies were Glen Davis, Michael Paoletti, Matt LaFreniere, Luke Maher, Brady Mayer, Grant Gonser and Ryan Maher.

The Girls’ team finished a strong season finishing fourth overall with a 9-5 record.  Leading the way for the Huskies were Reese Georgia, who finished first overall, Dylan Pasia, Miley Caughel, Emily Edwards, Emma Rushton, Sam Langolf and Haylee Robinson.

Student Council Announcement - 

Happy Homecoming Week!  Penny Jars will run all week! Pennies should be placed in your class’s jar, and will count towards your class’s total. Any other coins or bills should be placed in another class's jar, to count against that class.  The class with the highest total will win points towards the Homecoming barrel! Jars will be placed in the lunchroom during all three lunches! All proceeds this year will be donated to St. Jude Children’s hospital.

Friday is Blue and Gold Day

The class that participates the most in Spirit Week will earn the most points towards the Homecoming barrel!

And finally, this Friday Sept 30th is the Homecoming football game vs Fraser! The game will start at 7:00pm at Memorial Stadium. The student section theme is White-Out! At half time the classes will face off to win Cart Races, and homecoming Court, homecoming King, and homecoming queen will be announced!
